High Holiday Information
What to Bring
Tickets are required for entry the morning
of first day Rosh Hashanah and the morning of Yom Kippur.
Tickets are distributed to current members in advance
of the holidays. Please bring your tickets,
which will be checked upon entry. Bring your prayer
book and tallis.
Sanctuary Conduct
No audible cell phones are allowed in the sanctuary. Ushers
will close the doors to the sanctuary when entry is not
permitted. Please respect this.
Entrances
For Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur morning services, the
doors on both sides of the Evelyn Eisenberg Atrium will
be open. The minyan room door and the door behind the
bimah will also be open for those congregants who cannot
maneuver the stairs. For all other services, only the
minyan entry and the Evelyn Eisenberg Atrium will be
open. The minyan room is a street-level entrance with
no stairs. All other doors will be locked to
ensure the safety of everyone.
Parking
In addition to the on-street parking normally available,
our neighbors at the Greek Orthodox church have again
agreed to let us utilize their parking facilities for
Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. On the morning
of Yom Kippur, September 18, please leave the parking
spots closest to the building vacant due to a scheduled
program at the church.
Babysitting
Babysitting will be offered both days of Rosh Hashanah
and on the day of Yom Kippur from 9:30 until the end
of services. Babysitting is for children 3 and
under only. The babysitting room will be located
on the education wing. Please see the enclosed letter
regarding babysitting procedures.
Children’s Services
For the first morning of Rosh Hashanah and the morning
of Yom Kippur, we will have children’s activities
and services as follows:
9:30am-10:20am Arts and Crafts in the
Education Wing
10:30am-12:00pm Services
Alef Congregation, ages 3-6, education wing
Junior Congregation, ages 7-12, Sandler Hall
12:00pm-end of adult services Lunch for the children
and Activities, Sandler Hall
On the second day of Rosh Hashanah, students
should report to Sandler Hall.
Kol Kavanah
Kol Kavanah is an informal and family-friendly alternative
service held on the first day of Rosh Hashanah and on
Yom Kippur from 10:30am-noon in Brody Auditorium. Anyone
is welcome to attend. Parents should accompany mechildren
under 13.
